This creamy, dreamy chicken dish is so irresistible, Tender chicken breasts simmered in a rich parmesan cream sauce with garlic, thyme, and a touch of heat—perfect for date night or any night you want to impress.
Ingredients
- 4 tablespoons olive oil (I used extra virgin)
- 3 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- Kosher salt, to taste
- Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 2 cloves garlic, finely diced
- 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves
- A pinch of cayenne pepper
- ¾ cup chicken broth
- ½ cup heavy cream
- ½ cup shredded Parmesan cheese
Directions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Sear the chicken:
In a large oven-safe skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Season the chicken breasts generously with salt and pepper. Sear them for about 6 minutes per side, until both sides are golden brown. Transfer the chicken to a plate and set aside.
- Build the sauce:
In the same skillet, add the remaining 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Stir in the garlic, thyme, cayenne, and a pinch of red pepper flakes (optional). Cook for about 1 minute, just until fragrant.
- Simmer:
Pour in the chicken broth and heavy cream. Stir in the Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth. Season with a little more salt to taste. Let the sauce come to a gentle simmer.
- Return the chicken:
Nestle the seared chicken breasts back into the skillet, spooning some sauce over the top.
- Bake:
Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 15–20 minutes, or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 160°F.
- Serve:
Plate the chicken over buttery linguine or your favorite pasta. Garnish with fresh herbs like basil or parsley for a pop of color and flavor.
